The New City of Rhodes started coming into being when Suleiman The Magnificent was siege the Old City. After the siege, the people of Rhodes started gradually building settlements outside the Old City walls, these settlements grew in number and has not grown into the New City of Rhodes Town. While these settlements were built after the siege, these new structures give a view of the Italian rule on the island and have a very neo-Gothic style of architecture.

To this date, there is a lot of planning which has led to the development of many scenic parks, cultural activities and many tourist attractions which is also the reason for flocks of visitors staying in this part of the town. There are also many other reasons for the New City being a tourist attraction, this includes modern hotels, cafes, restaurants and even a market that can appeal to all sections of visitors.
