The best beaches in Rhodes are mostly located in the east coast. It is as if everything is in tune with each other. The weather is just right, the scenery is picturesque, and the wind is fit for families with children. Here are some of the beaches that are considered as Rhodes’ pride.
Afandou Beach lies 22 kilometers southeast from the Rhodes capital. It is mostly made of sand and pebbles. It does not have any facilities or rentals. It is to be purely enjoyed just for its natural beauty. Because of the lack of amenities, it is less crowded compared to other beaches.
Situated at the north-eastern part of Rhodes, the Beach of Faliraki is made of golden sands that extend over 4 kilometers. It is considered as one of the most structured beaches in Rhodes. It provides sun beds, umbrellas, taverns, restaurants, and beach bars. It is also known as a venue for many water sports like water skiing and wind surfing.
Famous for its soft and golden sands, the Kalathos beach attracts people from the village and some nearby towns. The waters are crystalline and clean. Although most accommodations are available in the village proper, few are found near the sea. Also, wooden sun beds and bamboo umbrellas are available for rent.
About ten kilometers northeast from the city of Rhodes, lays the beach of Kalithea. It is famous for its hot medicinal springs initially built by Italians. Adding to its postcard perfect scenery is the emerald waters that seem to beckon anybody to relax and let go of the worries in the world. Another part of is charm are the buildings made under the influence of Arabic architecture.
The beach of Traganou is made up of tiny light-colored pebbles and is boarded by crystal clear waters. Only a part of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sun beds. The rest of it is in its natural order. It is more or less 4 kilometers away from Faliraki.
Under the daunting rock where the phenomenal monastery of Tsampika stands lies the Tsambika beach. The beautiful scenery of the beach is due to its turquoise waters and golden sands. A mini-market is available in the beach right next to the bus stop which is convenient to tourists.
One of the most exquisite beaches in the island is bordered by fine-looking rocks and crystalline waters glowing under the sun. It is the Vagies beach but is more popularly known as the bay of Anthony Quinn after the actor of the movie “Guns of Navarone”, which was filmed in the place. This beach is perfect for scuba diving. It has breathtaking beauty underwater and the sea is almost spotlessly clean. There is a tavern within the vicinity. It is small enough to be intimate; it serves fresh fish and mouth-watering appetizers. Also accessible in the beach is a pier for small crafts.
Agathi beach lies on a cove near the beach of Haraki and the medieval castle of Feraklos. It is 10 kilometers from the village of Lindos. It has Three Canteens, a place where refreshments and snacks are served. Sun beds and umbrellas are also available for rental.
Faliraki nudist beach is the only organized nudist beach on the island. It is the most developed in the island and also one of the most sophisticated spots in Rhodes. It has various amenities like sun beds, umbrellas, taverns, restaurants, and beach bars. About 47 kilometers from the capital, Vlicha is the beach ideal for rest and relaxation. The wind is just right, the scenery is picturesque, and most of all, it is not bustling with tourists. Although it offers privacy in the right hand side, it is also the home of the largest hotels in the island.
Kiotari is considered as the most contemporary and stylish resort on Rhodes. It has large and luxurious hotels, well-run restaurants and taverns, a shopping center with mini-markets, bakeries, patisseries, and cash machines.
