Rhodes Island may be called an island, but it could hardly be called boring. After all, if you really think about it, Rhodes is possibly the most cosmopolitan Dodecanse island in Greece, what with its size and location. In fact, it has already been said that the nightlife in Rhodes is the most active outside of the capital city of Athens. Of course, much of the nightlife in Rhodes would be associated with the various resorts and vacation areas in the North and East Coasts (try Faliraki or Lindos) as well as Rhodes City proper; nevertheless, the energy that Rhodes exudes at night could be called unparalleled.

A myriad of clubs, casinos and bars keep themselves open and the excitement flowing the entire night. Drinks and dancing, games and gambling and a whole lot of intense fun keeps the party going from after the sun sets to when it begins to rise again. One of the best ways to spend a high-energy evening in Rhodes would be to head over to the Grand Hotel Summer Palace, where you will find the Casino of Rhodes. As far as the nightlife in Rhodes go, this could be seen as the heart of the excitement – appropriate, considering that it's standing in the heart of the city. Apart from the Casino of Rhodes, popular clubs such as Amazone, La Scala, Alaloum, Loft, Versus and Laser keep the nightlife in Rhodes spicy. Bars such as Roloi, Allegria, Sticky Fingers, Veggera, Blue Lagoon and Jukebox also keep your evening lively and interesting. The bars and nightclubs that make up the bulk of the exciting nightlife in Rhodes range from romantic piano bars and lounges to places that play anything from Greek music to contemporary world pop.

If that happens to not be your kind of thing, however, don't worry – the nightlife in Rhodes has more to offer than just blood-pumping activities and excitement. If you happen to show up in the summer, you will find that the nightlife in Rhodes also offers more subdued, classy alternatives to spending the evening such as cultural events and festivals, as well as the colorful theater season. These are mainly at the capital City of Rhodes, and the various theaters play host to daily performances of plays, dances, and concerts that range from the classical to the more contemporary styles, genres and themes. Of course, if you feel that these are TOO classy for you, you can always catch a movie – the City of Rhodes has a grand total of six cinemas in its area, and the films shown there range from local Greek films to Hollywood flicks and international art films.

If you want your evening to be a bit more quiet, and if you want to have time to do some thinking or have meaningful conversations, you can always head to a cafe or two on the harbor in New Town. It may still be a bit noisy in the sense that it's a very active place, but sitting in a cafe here allows you to do some people watching, and you can always let the noise become a buzzing backdrop to your coffee experience.

All in all, whoever you are and whatever you want, you can always find something for yourself when experiencing the nightlife in Rhodes.
