Rhodes Carnivals

Although some might think it dusty and antiquated, the island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese Prefecture of Greece continues to exude freshness and fun which makes it such an appealing place to visit and explore. For those always on the look out for large events and enjoyable celebrations, then you would be pleased to find out that the island of Rhodes, Greece hosts several carnivals in many towns and villages within it, all for different reasons and at different times of the year.

The village of Afandou in Rhodes for instance, celebrations a Carnival for the Feast of the Virgin Mary every August. Archangelos, Ialyssos, Embonas and Faliraki and several other towns and villages in Rhodes also celebrate their own carnivals, often to bring honor to a saint’s feast day but other times in order to commemorate a historic event or cultural belief.
