Although the roadside cafés and teahouses in the small Greek island of Rhodes in the Aegean Sea are nothing like the chic and polished ones in Paris or London, they do however reflect perfectly the pace of life and the culture that the Dodecanese island has.
While touring the antiquated and old-world streets and by-ways of the village of Lindos, Rhodes Town or some other village in Rhodes, you might happen to come across a few cafés and coffeehouses here and there. Of course, their number cannot be compared to those in France for instance where it seems like there is a café in every street in the country. However, the few cafés in Rhodes are very interesting and inviting because of the comfort and pleasing entrées that they serve.
Aside from coffee and tea, many Rhodian cafés also serve delicious Greek snacks and meals. They offer a refreshing and relaxed stop point for visitors touring the island who may need a place to sit for a while, chat with locals and sip coffee.
So the next time you happen to be in Rhodes and see a café, step inside for a while and receive more than just a cup of coffee but a whole barrel full of stories and songs from hospitable locals.
