Rodini Park in the island of Rhodes, Greece is a spot that even the mere mention of may instantly take your breath away. Yes, there are hundreds, or maybe thousands, of fantastic parks all over the world which can equal or surpass Rodini Park of Rhodes when it comes to beauty and aesthetic design. However, there is but one park in the world that has been the site for the acclaimed School of Rhetoric which the like of Cicero, Brutus, Mark Anthony and even Julius Caesar once studied.

It is said that Rodini Park in Rhodes, Greece was the first landscaped park in the entire course of world history. During the Greek era, it was lined with trees, shrubs and flowering plants. A stream can also be seen in Rodini Park and Greek philosophers once walked along its banks several centuries ago while they contemplate nature and organize their thoughts which once day would shape Western civilization.

Even during the Roman Era, Rodini Park of Rhodes remained a popular spot and the Romans even built an aqueduct in this Rhodian park which continues to stand even now. All around can be seen pine trees, cypress trees, and oaks where delicate vines and orchids wrap and grow on. Lots of small creatures as well as small and large fowls also inhabit this Eden-like paradise. Nowadays, peacocks flourish in Rodini Park and they add their color and majestic to the magnificent beauty that surrounds Rodini Park.

A cemetery or necropolis (city of the dead) was also built in the park during the 3rd century and even now, we can look upon tombstones and carved figures that are several centuries old. Even the tomb of Ptolemaeus (more widely known as Ptolemy), that famed mathematician, astronomer, geographer, and astrologer from ancient Roman times, can be found lying in Rodini park, Rhodes.

As mentioned before, aside from being a splendid place that combines human aesthetics with natural beauty, Rodini Park is also a site for rich history, art and culture. Being the location for the School of Rhetoric meant that Rodini Park, Rhodes was the second home to Greek and Roman geniuses, politicians, playwrights, philosophers, kings and emperors.
