The Old town is also the perfect place to purchase classic and modern gold and silver jewelries. Greece has been manufacturing unique and artistic jewelries for 300 years. The items are also unique and sold at a much cheaper price. There is also an impressive range of leather clothes, shoes, bags and fur sold in Rhodes. Example of the highly recommended shops to visit is Aphrodite’s Leather located at Asitotelous Street. This shop sells wide selection of women’s clothes for all tastes and occasions, as well as, leather jackets, bags, wallets and handbags. You can easily purchase creations of famous designers and labels such as Von Dutch, INDIES, Lollipops, Bosca, Bleu Blanc Rouge in Aphrodite’s Leather.
Fine reproductions of ancient statues, friezes, tiles and vases can be purchased at the Ministry of Culture Museum Reproduction Shop which is located at Ipitou Street, Old Town.
Delicately weaved carpets, antique furniture, paintings and porcelain can be bought in a majestically old building with a pebbled floor located near the Palace of Knights. Some monasteries and quaint shops in the villages of Lindos, Afandoue and Archangelos also feature intricate hand-woven carpets and lace embroideries.
Exotic herbs can also be purchased in Rhodes. The stores offer the freshest, most flavorful spices to sizzle your culinary creations. The most in-demand spices are the rigani, vassilokos, faskomilio and hamomille. You can easily buy these spices in grocery stores and supermarkets. The famous Rhodian wine and local honey are also best bought in shops in the villages of Siana and Vathi, these places specialized in the production of honey.
